EDUCATION

The goal is to help educate people of all ages about the true ecological and economic benefits of sustainable agriculture. Education is similar to Outreach as many of their functions overlap. AGC’s current programs involve the higher education level. Lectures have already been conducted at Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Hanoi University of Agriculture, and Dalat University in Vietnam. Work is planned to continue with these universities. As AGCs internal team develops, new relationships with other schools will be fostered. Beyond the university level, AGC has a strong desire to work with K-12 students.

AGC IS CURRENTLY RESEARCHING THE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ECOLOGICAL AGRICULTURE EDUCATION FOR ADULTS AROUND THE WORLD AND WILL BE PUBLISHING AN ASSESSMENT PAPER BY THE END OF THE YEAR

Teacher Leah Bauman-Smith wrote to us about these ideas on April 12, 2011, saying,

“I teach a class called environmental ethics and economics at Northwest Passage
High School in Coon Rapids, MN and we look at information on A Growing Culture
during our unit on farming practices.”

Outside of the classroom, AGC will contribute to professional sustainable agriculture conferences through participation, sponsorship, and presentations. As the organization and its network continue to grow, AGC will help educate through its own workshops, seminars, and lectures. Resources will also be offered to online viewers and could range from demonstrations in rural farming communities to in-class lectures at universities around the world. AGC seeks not only to maximize its impact in rural communities, but also to inspire and educate the next generation of sustainable agriculture advocates around the world.   Let’s Grow!
