A Growing Culture
  • SUBMIT A FARM PROFILE

First off, we realize that as a Farmer you are busy throughout the year and that your time, especially your personal time is very valuable to you. For that reason we do not take for granted your contribution of a farm profile and we hope you consider it for the greater good of the advancement of ecological agriculture; whether that be through educating those eager to learn, or exchanging and advancing concepts within the field. We intend for the content of this site to be used in the classroom as well as in the field, and appreciate your consideration!

The goal of our Farm Profiles is to educate through personal information and experience. We want farmers to share what they have learned about managing their system, and pass on any unique techniques or strategies that may be useful to others. Each profile will have assigned “tags” so when someone searches for example, “permaculture” all essays and farm profiles related to permaculture will show up in the search results. Our goal for the profiles is to see them written with a voice that isĀ orientedĀ to those interested in learning and discussing eco-agriculture. Profiles will be written from a systems oriented view not elaborating too much on each aspect of the system, but how the system is working as a whole, this is to prevent repetative overlap with the other key component to ‘notes from the field’ the Technical Essay. The more broad “farm profile” contains a number of essay topics as the diagram exhibits below:

To submit a farm profile you must be a full or part time farmer receiving income off the land. We ask that all profiles be limited to ~2000 words or less and a minimum of three photographs for the post. The reason for the address, is so that we can incorporate your profile into our Google Earth map that is in development. Please answer the first questions throughout your introductory paragraph while using the “prompts” to guide you through the body of the farm profile. Our goal is for the farm profile section to grow into a robust collection of farms that can be searched by region or keyword presenting the reader with well-organized system overviews that are objective and educational. Contribute your knowledge and wisdom, nothing beats first hand experience!
